Welcome to my new blog! I started this as a way to express my excitement, angst and fears about making aliyah (immigrating to Israel). You're welcome to join me in the blogosphere as I navigate through the maze of decisions and bureaucracy. My blog will also contain plenty of mundane, day-to-day non-aliyah stuff, such as info about my pets, making a living, my pathetic love life, family, etc. Sorry in advance if that stuff bores you, but hey, it's my life.
I'm a woman who is considering emigration from the USA to Israel. I'm not Jewish, but have enough of a Jewish background to be allowed under the Israeli Law of Return. I am a zionist, but sadly, as a child my main understanding about my family's background was being taught by my grandfather about the Holocaust, and that these were "my people." I wasn't raised with any cultural or religious traditions other than regular American ones. BTW, my real name is not Yaakova--I made the name up. (But I must say, it has a nice ring to it!)

Hey, you talked about your dog and new dog toys yesterday...It looks like your dog Angel is a Labrador? Am I right?
I have a Labrador, they are known well for their chewing, but they are nice dogs.

Angel is a golden retriever. She's a wonderful old girl. Fortunately, she doesn't usually chew on things (except lizards!) She's 10 years old, and I just adopted her last October from a local golden retriever rescue group. She and my 2 cats are precious to me!
Your dog must be in absolute Labrador heaven with your huge back yard!

Yep, and she loves going down to the dam on our neighbours property...only problem is our neighbour and the swans in the dam don't love her so much!
I guess you just have to deal with things like that when you only have cattle fences, great for keeping in the cows but they don't keep in the dog.

Love your garden! That is what I need - a virtual garden. Both of my thumbs are brown! I can successfuly kill cactus and bamboo! Weeds, however thrive! Perhaps in my virtual garden I too will appear 10 pounds thinner!
